Thanks for Life!

Special Thanks

On this "Alive Day," the first anniversary of my auto accident in June 2005, I want to send out special thanks to so many people who've been a part of my healing this year. I still have a bit of knee injury, but I'm healing, slowly but well, thanks be to God.

To the family in the motorhome I struck, I continue to send prayers of healing and blessing as you recover from this trauma and your own injuries. Thank God again that your lives were spared!-- thanks for telling me at the scene. To the SUV driver who caused the accident, I forgive you and hope you are at peace.

I want especially to thank all those emergency workers and helpful bystanders who responded to the accident scene on June 26, 2005. Most of your names I don't know, and some of the gifts of help you gave I won't even remember or realize. Know that you have been blessed in my prayers for your efforts and your kindess to me and the others involved in that accident. Thank you!

To the first responder-- the young man who held my head: you were the hands of God and comfort. Thank you. See the gold hands represented in the art, Everything Went Green, page 3. To the other two men who stayed with me and talked while the police & fire teams arrived, thank you for your presence that kept me anchored. To the Glenwood Store and whomever swept up the road, thank you. To all those people in cars delayed for an hour, thank you for your patience-- and for those of you who prayed for whomever had been in an accident-- Shelley and Linsley and others-- that was me, and I thank you!

To Officer Bob Charpentier of the Banks Police Office, thank you for your kindness, the thought to tarp my wreck, and the photographs. To the Hillsboro Fire Department team, thank you for getting me out of the car! To the captain of that team who sat by me and held my hand-- you were a tremendous support. Yours are the green hands (like your gloves) in the 3rd page of Everything Went Green. To Jan and Jay in the Metro West ambulance, you were exactly right to take all the precautions, though I'm glad to have been more well than it looked like I should have been. Thank you for your good humor and scrubbing out the glass. Thanks also for saving my favorite shoes. To the ER team at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital, thank you for the work you do every day to save lives, and the way you were ready for me in whatever shape I came in. Thanks for the fantastic x-rays and the photo CDs.

To my community of friends and family who supported me in hundreds of ways during this year, thank you! Thanks especially to Aaron, Jill, and Lucy who came to the ER; to Ron & Noel for fabric rescue and daily needs; to Mom, Dad & Ryan for all your gifts; to West Hills Friends for prayer and support of many kinds; to faraway friends who sent love, notes, and prayer. Thank you to the Monastery of St. Gertrude for all your prayer and your patience when the Passion of the Earth art took just a bit longer to finish than we expected!

To all those I've seen for healing treatments over this year, thank you. I've learned so much about our bodies, energy, healing, and our interconnections with each other. To Laurie, Jessie, Anne, and Betty, special thanks.
