I created this layered art piece to honor and explore my feelings about the experience of a serious car accident in June '05. See my first anniversary Thank You pages here.
Deep gratitude for Grace that limited injury and damage-- there were no safe choices in the moment of the accident, and I am glad every day that the other victims were not seriously injured.
Deep thanks to all the helping hands, seen and unseen, who worked to protect my life, heal my wounds, care for my needs, and clean up the debris... Thanks be to God for Presence and this lavish gift of life.
The title, "Everything Went Green," comes from my experience at the moment of impact-- I saw only light green, then a fading mist. Later I realized my air bag was mint green, and the radiator steam was blowing clear... The rest of the text comes from a poem by David Whyte, and the collage materials on #3 are actual trauma unit and hospital items from my first week of recovery. I'm grateful to be alive and healing!
In the original
art, these 4 layers stack one on top of each other. The second & third layers have holes in them to let the lower two show through.
