A Tent Full of Goodness

Who knew a 10×10 tent could hold so much art and good conversation?  Great weekend at the Lavender Festival in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.

I’m amazed yet again by the beauty and power of art when I get to share the stories…

Pre-Order Storm Journey Book

Yahoo!!  Thanks to a terrific response, the first printing of my Storm Journey book is underway!  With this strong support, I’ve reduced the price to $19 and will include a full set of juicy reflection questions for individuals or groups.  See example illustrated pages here, and example questions below.

Please order your Storm Journey books with my online PayPal shopping cart, or print out and mail this Order Form if you’d rather write a check.  Order anytime, and by July 15 to guarantee your copies from this first printing.  Estimated delivery August 1 to September 1, 2013.

The people who committed to order the first 50 copies will receive free shipping as a thank you for their swift reply to my initial blog announcement.  On all regular orders, shipping is free after the first two copies in one order.  You’re welcome to combine art print orders with this offer as well!

As a bonus for everyone, I’m delighted to report that the book will include a series of reflection questions for grown-ups who want to dig a little deeper into the Storm Journey metaphors.  (Children who enjoy the book won’t need anything but their imaginations!)  I’ve tried to write the questions in simple and neutral language so people from many different traditions and perspectives might want to use them.  I trust you’ll find these queries useful to enrich your own experience of the book’s imagery.  I also expect these questions will create lively and meaningful conversation in a small group.  As a spiritual director, I know that good questions spark soul-learning and creativity!

Here are reflection questions from the Kindred page:

What kind of companionship inspires and motivates you?  How might you find kindred spirits nearby?  —  Have you ever felt at home with strangers?  If so, what helped you feel at home?  If not, what discouraged it?  —  Share aloud or in writing about a time you were surprised by a sense of fellowship or resonance in a group, place, situation, the natural world, etc.  —  Make up a story about feeling kindred that you wish were true, even if it isn’t true yet.  Share or write about your wish.

I appreciate your prayers and encouragement as I finalize the reflection questions, book layout, and printing details for this first printing of Storm Journey.  It’s an amazing challenge and grace to bring this particular art out into the world.  Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the risk and vulnerability of it all, yet the story itself is a map of courage and resilience.  The book has traveled a long way over two and a half years– from dream and vision through collage materials, digital scan, and soon-to-be publication!

Thanks be for all these good gifts and your support.

With great anticipation–  Melanie

PS– If you’d like to explore your own creativity, there are just a few spaces left in my Pendle Hill arts & spirituality workshops this August near Philadelphia.  It’s one of my favorite weeks all year!  See the Events calendar for details.
